Back At It
I Have A Dream (with apologies to Dr King)
i have a dream -- to sleep in late on at least one monday morning
i have a dream -- to have all federal, state and bank holidays off
i have a dream -- for the commute train cars to be as empty every day as they were this morning
i have a dream -- to have the lady behind the counter everyday say, you want free soup? because no-one is coming in today! (like she did today)
am i bitter about having had to work today? naaaaaahhh...
considering the traumas that built up around Casa de Beck these past two weeks and which all came to a head on friday, the past weekend turned out remarkably well. looking back i think we had been grieving Mao's loss all along, and with his passing there was an almost audible sigh of relief. everyone had been on edge, the other kitties were grumpy and off their food. they knew he was sick and they too were sad. but you know, death is a part of life, even for those left behind. only those that are left can't forget to keep on living.
speaking of which leads me to saturday night.
where do i start. saturday night was a blur of good food, laughter and friends. friends that, although i've only known in person for such a short amount of time, it only takes ten minutes back together and i feel like i've known them my entire life. we talked smack on jobs and co-workers and bloggers (no, not you). we compared notes on AR and our mutual disgust of Jonathan. we talked about lurker Steve. we told jokes, tame at first, that quickly degenerated to the very nasty. we got to witness a rarely seen joke grenade from Dan, which he perfectly placed in Remy's mind, the timer set for the precise moment Remy had a mouthful of ice tea. the result was the most perfect spit-take. unfortunately though, i was sitting on the other side of the table and was on receiving end of said spit-take. ah well, the price one pays for such fun!
yes, it was a great evening. i'm surprised the staff didn't ask us to leave, but then, we seemed to outlast all of the other patrons -- time flew by so quickly. thanks for organizing Jules. i can't wait for the next one!
sunday was spent packing up holiday decorations, watching TiVo delayed playoff games and listening to E grumble about not wanting to go on her business trip. i wouldn't have wanted the day to turn out any other way.
so now that i've surfaced, tell me -- what's happened of note in the bloggy world? any more Buzz's quit? what'd i miss?

Glad you had a good weekend, Pete. There's nothing better to lift a heavy heart than good friends. Tequilla helps, but it's almost as dangerous as handguns. Buzz is still playing possum. I saw Dylan do this once - just walked off after the last song, and nothing we could do to get an encore. Good tunes, though.
