The Spin
there sure seems to have been a lot of discontent going on out there in the blog world these past 24 hours or so. and rightly so. the reselection of the Dubya/Cheany ticket is enough to make 49.1% of this nation scared pissless, not to mention how the rest of the world must feel about it. that solid THUMP sound we all heard tuesday was the sound of this country being shoved that much further to the right by Bushie's friends and supporters -- the immoral majorityminority. just the idea that he's been handed the keys to that great executive washroom called our country and knowing that he and his buddies are about to drop a whole bunch of kids off in our pool, well, it just makes me a little queasy.
but after a bit of this doom and gloom thinking i said to myself, Pete, there's got to be a positive side to this, right? it can't be all up a crapper without a wipe, right?
so in this frame of mind, last night i sat down with a bottle of Tequila (Heradura Silver -- the good stuff!) a can or two of Squirt (with the tequila and a twist of lime -- it's a really good mixed drink. try it if you don't believe me), some leftover halloween candy, and came up with this list of things we can be thankful for by the reselection of Dubya:
1. he can't run again, four years from now
2. when he messes up i can proudly exclaim, I DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM!
3. Chief Justice Renquist will live at least another four years. he's got to... come on -- hang in there man...
4. no need for a new halloween costume -- i can reuse that Dubya mask for the next four years without anyone questioning it
5. great tax breaks after i make my first million dollars! of course, first i need a million dollars...
6. the curse of the Washington Redskins is over
7. those of you that voted "Anybody But Bush" will get your wish four years from now!
8. no more campaign commercials! at least for another three years
9. an Obama / Hilary ticket in 2008! or Obama / Newsom -- either will do
10. there's no rush now to find Osama bin Laden!
that's what i've come up with so far. did i miss any?

I say it will be Edwards/Obama and then Obama/Rodham-Clinton, because in four years we will be in a financial tailspin to rival the 30's and perhaps the econmony will matter to more of the country by then. Specially after they spend one winter after another not being able to afford their heating oil.
