It's There So That We Won't Do It Again

how far we've come. a panel on Digital Preservation this afternoon here at south by southwest got me thinking, i wonder what the SXSW web site used to look like back in the good ol' days?

a quick search though archive.org got me this -- the SXSW Interactive web site, archived on 12/19/1996. omg. like i said, web design has come a long way...

if you have a web site and it was around between 1996 and 2003, and you've never checked out archive.org before, i highly recommend it. they've been cataloging and preserving the entire internet from 1996 to now -- and you can search for the URL of your choice by using their Internet Archive Wayback Machine. go on, try it. go type in your blogs URL.

remember that really bad site layout you did back in '98 that you hoped everyone had forgotten by now? yep, chances are they've got it.
