SXSW: Day #2
i got in so late last night that i didn't really have time to do much but put up that last post and fall into bed. all i cared about at that time was the room had high speed internet and a place to lay my head, so imagine my surprise when this morning i opened the curtains to see this:
yep, that's the roof of the hotel restaurant and their air conditioning units. if they weren't there you'd instead see a nice view of the river. sadly, it is there. i think it was all part of yesterday's bad travel karma. in my last two SXSW's, i've somehow managed to land a suite on one of the upper floors without asking. not this year. oh, and as you can see from the picture, the rain has started back up.
that picture was taken a few minutes ago, the next four i took this morning during Kick!2004, the annual kickball game. the skies were overcast then but it wasn't raining.

to put it simply, this was a load of fun -- this was the first time i've played since elementary school. and i don't think we want to count how many years that's been. for the record, i went 3 for 5, with (if i can use some baseball terms) a single, double and a grand-slam homerun! not that i'm bragging or anything... :) i was able to meet more people in this one hour then i think i've met in the last couple SXSW's, although i'll be the first to admit i won't be able to remember everyone’s name.
now where's my umbrella? i need to get to the opening night party! i know i packed it somewhere...
