a good weekend is drawing to a close. a lot has happened and i haven't had a chance to sit down to put it in words until now. i spent most of my impromptu day off on friday exploring nearby places i've never been before, looking for good photo-ops. my day took me to the martinez marina, an old winding country lane that followed the delta and a pasture full of cows and goats who proved to be semi-willing photo subjects. the pictures will appear in my recently built photolog, as soon as I can first get all of the old pictures in there. check back in a day or two. but in the meantime, let me share this one. this guy was just begging me to take his picture! how could i say no?

on saturday, after years of schooling and late-night term papers, my friend Nina was ordained as a minister. and me, being the oh-so-non-religious person that i am, i volunteered to act as photographer for the event. i had the new Canon after all -- what better way to put it through its' paces. and it performed like a champ too! -- i shot over 170 pictures during the ceremony and reception. when i got home and had finally downloaded all of the pictures from the past several days to my computer, i figured i ought to burn a backup CD of all the pictures i'd taken. in the last three days alone, the pictures i'd taken added up to nearly a gig in memory -- far more than i could burn to one CD! me thinks i need to start shopping for an external memory drive.

and today was of course, sleeping in, CD shopping (Arab Strap, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jet, Aisler Set) -- and, oh yeah... wasn't there a football game on or something? :) how could i forget. it was a fab super bowl party, hosted by Rod & Casey at the 212. and Casey even stocked the fridge for me with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Mountain Dew -- is she not the best friend or what?! Casey, if you're reading this -- you rock! :)

congrats to the Pats for winning the game, and congrats to the Panthers for making it entertaining! you did sooo much better up against them than the Raiders did last year. now maybe next year we can have a west coast team in there, to make it interesting for the rest of the country, hmm?

i'm off to bed -- have a good work week everyone!

Man Pete...I'm going to have to stop coming to your site. All of these awesome pics are making me drool over that camera.

On the positive side, I just got a check for $180 from our flexible spending account today. Add that to the $300 I have coming for some side work I do and the $100 I should get for my birthday from my mom and I'm getting closer to that digital camera (probably not yours, but still)!

Yay!
