has anyone else out there had their MT blog spammed? somewhere i remember someone else writing about this, but now i don't know who it was. this weekend, a porn spammer has randomly hit about 60 old entries of mine using five different IP addresses.

is there a way to stop this? anyone?

it happened to me just yesterday. spammed like 50 of my entries, was their name pizodet@yahoo.com..? or something. lol. i was about to make an entry about it later today. i guess it is an epidemic or something.

i woke up with like 50-60 emails about comments on posts that have been dead and buried in the ground for years. anyway. ya it is happening a lot lately. i hate it!

i think buzz was talking about it a month or so ago, btw.

it's happening all over the blogosphere, i think there are a few people working on fixes for it - i'll keep my eyes posted for you.

Hmmm, more and more people seem to have too much free time

My friend Shanni at shanni.org posted yesterday about it with links to fix it up.

Ugh, it's happening to me too. Not in that quantity, but every couple of days I get a comment from a random "term life insurance" site, they leave their email and website and just say "Cool." or "Interesting." as a comment. It's REALLY annoying.

thanks everybody -- the feedback and links you've provided are just what i was looking for. and just knowing that i'm not the only one that's being hit by this helps too!

i'll post again after i've tried some of the suggested fixes out tonight and let you know how hard they were to implement and if they seem to be working.

I found a third possibility for you, I think it's pretty easy and not terribly cumbersome for your commenters:

Good luck!
