each year, fleet week in SF seems to sneak up on me. i should remember, it always happens in the middle of october. but it never dawns on me until i hear the roar of the engines of the blue angels F18's introducing themselves. and when you work in a downtown office building, forget about having any phone conversations while they're flying by.

me (on the phone): can you hold on a moment?
blue angels: ROAARRRR!!!!
client on phone in LA: what the hell was that?!
me: oh nothing...

i did get a few decent pictures of them though, they were practicing while i was on lunchbreak.

Are you kidding? I slept to that sound for 10 years! And we are near an Air Force base now and I love it! Especially when I can't think because it's so loud! (we live near the final approach area)I'm dying for the Angels to come out here so I can take the kids to see them fly!

i'm with susan, haha. when i was younger, we lived under the flight path of the air force base (at the age when all boys want to be fighter pilots), so it was cool.

now i live in dc and there's ALWAYS something flying overhead. mostly helicopters, but we get everything ... blimps, jets, passenger planes, etc.

I agree I love the sound of F18's flying by! The other week my sister and I saw 2 Sealth Bombers fly over head. That was really impressive. I never saw one before. They must have been going home from the Williow Grove air show! I hope!

it's pretty cool watching 5 or 6 of them fly in formation over downtown (like I saw today coming back from lunch) ... thank goodness they know what they're doing, cos I still do a double-take whenever I see a plane in a place I don't think I've seen one before
