I Have A Vewy Good Fwiend In Wome...
my mom called me today! she called from Italy. this month, she and my step dad are leading a backpacking trip through the alps for other people in their retirement community. seriously - they really do stuff like that. she's so cool - i so hope to be in the same shape that they're in when i'm her age.
so she calls me to ask if i can go check the mail and water their plants, as she hasn't been able to reach the neighbor that was supposed to be doing that for them. i guess he's an elderly gentleman who's had health problems. i said sure, i'd go check on their place and the neighbor, and by the way - what's the guys name?
the guys name is Dick Johnson.
i immediately thought of Biggus Dickus, Pilate's "Roman friend" in Monty Pythons Life Of Brian. surely she was joking but quickly i realized that she wasn't. omg - i'm sure she was wondering why i was chuckling for the rest of our phone call.
when i got off the phone i told Erin that my mom asked us to check on Dick Johnson. her straight-faced reply, "well that must be a HARD name to go through life with..."
hehheh - that's my girl. i think my sense of humor has rubbed off on her...
